It's coming up to that time of year for me again... The Bathurst endurance race happens this weekend, and I have booked myself a seat in front of the TV for the entire weekend.

Do any of you guys (& gals) out there hear about the Bathurst 1000? We hear a fair bit about Nascar now that we have a driver in the mini-trucks. But I want to know how many people around the world actually know about and watch our V8 Supercars?

I love V8 supercars. Not sure if Bathurst is the best road race in the world but it is nice. I just got back from the Petit LeMans in Atlanta - 10 hours or 1000 miles, whichever comes first (same LeMans format 2 different GT classes and 2 prototype classes). Great race. BTW V8 supercars makes ASCAR look like, well? ASS!

Hiway 99 in CA?
Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right.

We used to see a lot of V8 Supercars, but Speed channel has become a mostly NASCAR only channel. They've even dropped the WRC.

Bathurst has always been an entertaining old school race on an school track. No guts, no glory.

Speed Channel has become a mostly NASCAR only channel due to the fact that NASCAR bought the channel.

Used to be a lot of really good shows on the Speed channel that immediately went away right after the purchase....

I have to say the Bathurst race is pretty damn entertaining.

And I agree that the new SpeedTV is a step in the wrong direction. And this is from a guy who spent three years working at LMS in Charlotte.

And who would have thought we'd have some real road race fans here?

Ok, to be more fringe element, I prefer rallying, especially WRC, compared to most road racing. However, V8 Supercars at Burthurst is a definite exception.

I do like the technical element of NASCAR. 750HP+ from a carburated 5.7 litre pushrod engine is impressive. Shows you what enough time and money can do.

Give me a rally any day!

How dull is a Nascar race though? Even F1 is more interesting! And thats 1000+bhp from a 2L normally aspirated engine :)
