I know much has been discussed already on the topic of HDMI, however, I am wondering if anyone else has experienced issues with HDMI connectivity between Denon DVD players and Pioneer TVs with media receivers?
How about Pioneer TVs without media receivers?
How about Denon DVD players with other TVs?
How about other manufacturers?
I am concerned here largely with DVD players. Cable and Sat boxes are a given as far as lack of compatability and support goes.
I would like to start compiling a list so that these incompatabilities can be avoided BEFORE we get on the job!!!!!!

Thewre are too many variables... Which cable?? what length?? what level of firmware on the source?? what level of firmware on the display??
This is going to drive us crazy for a long time...

We have done a lot of product testing (as well as talking with many equipment mfgr's).
Here is what I have found.
Alomst all current Displays will sync Video/Audio with just about any source (as long as there is not any switching devices WITH audio extraction) including SA & Motorola
CATV STB's.
Pioneer Displays have shown NO issues with any source and most lenghs (Pioneer has been testing Blu-Ray up to 15 meters with our cable).
Denon sources have shown NO issues with any display that we have tested.
SA STB's, Motorola STB's & some DSS products STILL have issues going thru any switcher WITH audio extraction.
The most stable HDMI switcher that we have found to date is the Parasound Z-HD (no Audio extraction).
As I hate to type if you have any questions you can always call.
IF I do not pick up it is because I am in a bad cell area.

The situation I have been dealing with is a lack of HDMI video transmission from a Denon DVD 1920 (HDMI 1.1) to a Pioneer PDP 4360. The cable runs are short and I have tried two different cables. The diplay settings are correct. I have not been able to determine the HDMI firmware version of the display, however. Perhaps the DVD's HDMI output is faulty?!?!

tgrugett, I will be at a job-site towards the end of this week with a 1920 connected to a pro-930 (with media box) via HDMI. There have been no problems with this set up. I do realize there are differences between these displays and there respective media boxes, but there should be no difference in their operating capabilities. I am assuming that you turned the 1920's HDMI output on via the front panel hdmi button and set the upconversion to 1080I. I may be wrong, but I believe that you must ALSO set the Pioneer input to HDMI via the tv's menu system. If this is not done on the pro-930, the HDMI output of the 1920 will not be seen at the media box. Good luck.

Aaron is correct.
You MUST go into the setup menu on the Pioneer and select HDMI for the input.
I would assume the same for the Denon.
I will call tomorrow and ask.
