No hard feelings, Chuck. And thanks for apologizing.
A few years ago Runco wouldn't have taken our phone call.
We've grown a bunch and, combined with the fact that their
biggest local dealer dropped them, they're looking for
a new dealer. That dealer's owner, who I used to work
for some years ago, said they had a run of bad flat-panel
product and he didn't feel he was taken care of by Runco.
Probably wanted to RMA the stuff and they wanted to repair
it. Just a guess. We had a few other CAIP jobs where Runco
had to send a tech out. Cool that they did, but still
a PITA to make a special trip onsite to babysit them.
So these are my first- and third-hand experiences with
Runco. I know that, when it works, the product is a cut
above. Sam sounds like a fun guy. But are we going to
have spend a bunch more time supporting it than what we
do with our current lines? Time is money after all.
T ... Ya gotta pick up Runco .. There are a lot of integrators that would beg, plead, steal and borrow ... only to get turned down by Runco ... I've only had 1 Runco projector that had a problem ... CL-610 ... Popped a bulb after 600 hours ... Runco overnighted us a new bulb and software update (their engineers were right on top of the problem) ... Problem solved and a happy customer (they rant about how well Runco treated them) ... If I were you, I wouldn't let this opportunity slip through my fingers .. Because you better believe other integrators would relish the chance to pick up Runco ...
