I have an outdoor install requiring an RF remote to the pool/yard zone stereo 100 ft away. I normally would use a hughes RF to the DSS receiver & out the blasters to run the audio. This system has no video. Niles intellicontrol is too much $- home producer 8, etc don't go far enough. the rest i've seen need a PC to operate. Any ideas! Help me keep a good customer.

I became frustrated with the limited range of outside infrared targets for customers with large size back yards and multiple zones. I successfully used a RFUNIV from terk technologies (Leapfrog) with a theatermaster MX500 at distance of 150ft from the equipment. In addition, you can drive a xantech distribution block with the output of the leapfrog base station. If you wish, you can place the base station in the attic and use zip wire to extend the low voltage power supply and shielded 22 gauge (2 conductor) to feed the emitter output to a xantech distribution block. In this one home, the base station was mounted approximately 35 feet off the ground in the attic and we were getting bulletproof control of the equipment from more than 200 feet from the house. It works, its inexpensive, but it is not for everybody, as it lacks elegance.

Xantech used to make a product called "FoneLink" and it worked quite well with a range of hundreds of feet if using a 2.4gig wireless phone. I would suggest to wire in a battery backup so you don't loose the codes. It came out way back in 1992 and they stopped making it around 1999 but i have seen several around. email me with any questions.

Well, since there are now rules upon the distance a remote can work good luck. I remember before there were rules on RF distance I worked in the C-Band industry. A sat receiver called the Tracker V could successfully operate from over a city block away from the unit. Ran into many occasions where neighbors had them and were wondering why they were always 'moving by themselves' LOL.
I think it's unrealistic for a homeonwner to ask for operation at this distance with RF technology. Or, move the antenna to the yard somewhere.

Why can't you use a Xantech Xtra Link, www.xantech.com and run ir over RG-6. They say that you can run it up to 1 mile, but I haven't tried that long a run!
