Installed a rack of equipment which is located in a closet in a room with a plasma screen. Used a xantech 480 dinky link on back side of sony plasma screen. All equipment works (5 items) except new sony vcr. Plasma not the problem. Vcr still doesn't work if i shut plamsa off.Using marantz 5200 remote. Vcr works with av closet door open.Did all possible troubleshooting tests. Customer is using system with closet door open until I can figure out what is going on with the sony vcr. Using 18 gauge unshielded wire between Xantech 789-44 powered connecting block and 480b-00 dinky link IR with IR 286m emitters. never had a problem with a sony vcr before with the same IR equipment and IR is definitely on the IR location of VCR and yes did try other emitters. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

The newer sony vcr's are out of the ir frequency range. You have a few choices. One: swap the sony for a mitsubishi. Two: add a second ir friendly table top receiver and tune it to the proper frequency. Either one will work. If need more info feel free to email me at [email protected]. We have installed a vast number of plasmas.
