I have an RCA 52" TV model P52960, and when I turn it on, for the first 5-10 minutes it hums from what appears to be the screen. Also when a very bright scene comes on, it does it again. Anyone have have any thoughts? If i turn it off and on a few times, it seems to stop doing it, but then it comes back. I have no audio hooked up to the TV at all, I have the audio shut off in the menu, and the only signal the TV gets is an S-Video cable to Input 1, and Component to Video 2. I upgraded all my cables from RCA cable to S-Video thinking it may be noise from the cabling, but that did not help at all. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mat

Actually, I don't have any answer. I just wanted to respond to a request within a minute of its being sent....
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

okay for real now.

How old is this set? Did it ever not do this?

A classic TV problem is buzz coming through the audio system when the white level of the video is way too high. This first showed up years ago when the first video titlers were used by sports shows -- bright white lettering or score numbers were always accompanied by a buzz.

However, if the white level is way too high, it sure is possible that the deflection coils on the yoke of the tube could vibrate from receiving more voltage than they should get.

If s video and component cause the same problem, then it most likely is not a problem with the video signal going into the set, but a problem with circuits in the TV itself.

The set is less than 3 months old, and it seems like it just started this in the last month or so. Seems like when ever it is on, for the first 5-10mins no matter what is being displayed it has that hum to it. I am going to call the place where I got it in the morning, since i have a 2 year onsite warranty.

Thanks

sounds like a good idea.

and o yeah, consider me an irritating old fart if you want to, but when you open a thread, would you please use a title that is more descriptive of SOMETHING about the problem? OF COURSE you hope "maybe someone here knows;" how about "problem with buzz on new TV"
?
?

What video source do you have hooked into it?
