Hi Guys

I'm a relative newbie (7 days) but think I'm finally getting the hang of this thing. I have 20 years programming experience in 'C' & Perl but I have to say I really struggled with some of the concepts at first. DOH!

Anyway, I have a Marantz DV4100 DVD player but the discrete OFF button does not work with either the Marantz DVD or DVD4100 devices supplied by default with my Marantz RC5200. I've been to the discrete codes section of the website already & tried the IR code supplied but that just TOGGLES my DVD player.

I have worked out that a discrete ON is just a *play* *stop* combination but I can't get a discrete off without *play* *toggle off O/O* which always spins up the DVD player when I do a system off (which I would rather not do). In the manual for the remote it says that all Marantz equipment has discrete codes.

Is my problem that I've got a European Player?

Is there a contact at Marantz I can e-mail?

Thanx in anticipation.

Dave

Seems the newer Marantz DVD players (DV-4200, DV-6200, that we've checked), do not have discrete ON/OFF commands.

You need to use the PLAY=On, and PLAY, 2-4 second DELAY, then POWER=Off trick for these models.

I contacted a very helpful chap at Marantz & this is what I got :-

Dave

Your unsolicited e-mail is welcome there is no content relating to sex or special offer buy something ( it is not spam)

I have check the product details from you to find the product works on RC6 not RC5x ( not a lot of difference between the code structures)

please find attached a zipped excel file with all the commands built in.

Best Regards

Neil Gill
Product Manager

I know this sounds (an is) a total newbie question, but how do I enter RC6 codes into touch screen setup??

If you want a copy of the excel spreadsheet, let me know

Regards

Dave

I have found out how to enter the RC6 codes in Touchscreen Setup (by using the advanced button) but I'm afraid that the code in the spreadsheet marked STANDBY is just a toggle ON/OFF to my DV4100.

I'm a bit miffed since my Marantz RC5200 manual states clearly that all Marantz equipment uses discrete ON / OFF codes.

I have reverted to the Product Manager at Marantz by e-mail and will post his reponse.

Cheers

Dave

Sorry Matt, didn't get a chance to try 'cos my laptop batteries went flat last nite before I had the opportunity. I will try this evening when I get home & will let you know the results.

Your help is very much appreciated.

Did the codes I posted work? They work for the DV7010, just wondering if they work for your model.

I know someone was kind enough to post them from the Marantz editing program for me. At that time I didn't have a high speed connection and 12 MB was a long wait. Maybe if you DL the Marantz editor, you will find the codes you need there.

In addition to my latter post, here is the actual codes you need for the 4000 version. This would be an 'advanced' code under IR in the Pronto edit program.

On
RC5x 4,12,1
5001 0000 0000 0002 0004 000c 0001 0000

Off
RC5x 4,12,2
5001 0000 0000 0002 0004 000c 0002 0000

See if that works.

I'll try this, but it's my understanding that all the codes for the DV4100 are RC6 codes (you can download them from the Marantz site). Power toggle is RC6-04-12, so maybe RC5-04-12... codes would work. Worth a shot anyway.

Ta.
