Hello

I have been away for quite some time and am happy to be back.

I have been trying to purchase the software to program my own Elan Z-100 keypads but here is my problem.
I am not an Elan Dealer!!!

Here is my problem with that.
I enjoy changing my system around and since most of my equipment is older and lower end, I am slowly upgrading to new pieces. Every time I need to remove the keypads and have them re programed. Besides, even if the codes are correct for the equipment, I get a kick out of changing the way my system works. It.s a hobbie for me, not a business!!!!

I know I am not a dealer. I can respect that. What I dont understand is, even if I purchased the software and equipment to program the Z-100 or Z150, I could never purchase any other Elan equipment! So I can not see what the big problem is.

I am starting t wonder if I should have stayed away from the Elan system. Maybe this equipment does not fit my needs.

I have a need to play with my own system and make the changes that I want when I want. To get home from work at 6:00, Eat dinner, then go into my cave and play on my computer of with my wire(as my wife would say) till 3:00 in the morning. I LOVE THAT!!!I DONT SMOKE, I DONT DRINK (EXCESSIVLY). WHAT ELSE DO I HAVE!!!

Sorry just lost my thought there. Well just voicing my opinion. please feel free to do the same if you wish.

Mike

You should see if your local elan dealer can give you a deal on a Z90 programmer. He probably has a VIA programmer that will program Z100/150 keypads as well. You don't need software to program them either

the older elan z90 programmer does not use software or a computer interface. The newer elan via tools however does and is much more flexible and easier to use. You may still be able to find a z90 for purchase
at a good price. The via tools software and programmer runs in the neighborhood of $500-$700 assuming you can fjind adealer to sale it to you..

email me at [email protected]
I may be able to help you

Though the Z-tools program does not program per se, once you have uploaded components from the keypad to your PC thru the Z90 you can then construct keypads using component cfg's in ZStools and download the cfg's to the keypads. You also can download to all the keypads from the learner with out carrying around(or even owning a laptop). I would think you could get a Z90 for a couple a hundred bucks. If you want to do all the work in a PC, get the VIA learner but for simple reprogramming for component changes why go to the expense or bother. For your Elan dealer the Z90 is really just redundant at this time
