The new Sony SAT-HD200 Hi-Def Directv receiver has what looks like a serial port on the back. However, they call it a service port. Can it be use used as a rs-232 connection and if so can you get the codes?

You are the man! Thank you. Glad to see there are other savvy minded thinkers out there. Just curious how you got them...I'm a Crestron dealer and when I spoke with tech support they didn't have a clue.

ive just put the creston page there on the site for you, you should have said it was for use with creston

Chris -- you should check out the Crestron Programmers group at [Link: groups.yahoo.com]. That information (and more) was posted there a couple of months ago -- waayyy back in 2002 :-)

However, we're still trying to find out if the HD200 *returns* any status feedback information through the serial port...
