I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.

Get a piece of cardboard and cut out a rectangle. Tape the cardboard over the lens. The image on the screen will now be smaller.

To increase projector image size just tape a magnifying glass over the lens.

Also if the image isnt small enough just get a new piece of cardboard and cut a smaller rectangle.

Good Luck.

Are you freaking insane? That won't work. Cardboard is liable to catch fire from the heat of the bulb. Use aluminum foil.

Fins,
that was a joke.

Unfortunately, Mac, technical jokes can be misunderstood to be actual advice. Fins knows what's what and he got fooled. Imagine the newbies out there now starting fires on their projectors!

(That last bit was a joke, too -- I'm sure only one or two people have burned down their houses following your advice.)
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Maybe the original contractor is still cycling through "A/V" guys looking for a better deal.

Now, we have cheap technology. Why not have the kid next door strap together a cheap Android tablet and a camera to feed a zoomed picture to the projector? Don't forget to convert the video to a format that the projector will accept. (composite?)

My favorite Tin Ho story (probably just the way he tells it) was of a guy who called him for support on a Runco projector. The image would not fill the screen (obviously someone mounted the projector in the wrong location). After acquiring some details of the install from the installer on the size of the screen, the current throw distance, etc., Tin Ho's response was "Hang up phone. Move projector or screen. Call me back." The guy actually called him back....he moved the projector and magic....it worked out!

You have to use professional quality cardboard.

WTF? Are YOU insane?!!! You put the cardboard in front of the LENS...NOT THE BULB!

Now, maybe if you combined the magnifying glass with the cardboard and the lens, you might be catching something on fire....depends on the scene you are watching I suppose. :)
