I would guess that these are not coming from ML and they will cut off whatever dealer is transhipping. Same thing happened with the Infocus 7210 that was available for a couple of days and the Denon 4806.

This is not correct! You are perpetrating false information. I received an email from Rafael - president & CEO of ML - yesterday and they are taking swift action against the dealer who is getting these to Costco. Please be careful when you spew out your opinions and please double check your facts. Yes Costco was selling a few models but this was not sanctoned my ML.

Honestly you guys. Get real. ML is one of the greatest speaker companies to deal with. A real advocate of the little dealer and they have been bringing out some very good CI products over the last 2-3 years too. Cut them some slack.
Chasing Ernie's post count, one useless post at a time.

Also, Denon's parent company is D&M Holdings. D&M is based in Japan, but as far as I know has nothing to do with ML.

Sam's and Costco have dedicated staff who do nothing other than scour the classified and legal notices of papers throughout the US (and probably Canada as well) and cold call all day long to find companies in financial trouble and/or going out of business who can be talked into moving their inventory sideways for a reduced rate...

Remember Goodfellas where they ordered liquor, meat, etc. until the resteraunt ran up their accounts with theire vendors, and then they torched the place and defaulted?? ...or in the episodes of The Sopranos when they did the same thing to a sporting goods store owned by a gambler who got in over his head??

This happens every day, except big business took over the racket from the Mob, the companies simply file BK protection instead of being burned out (after the assets are sold off for cash, of course), and the merchandise goes to membership club outlets.

They do this in EVERY category... The gas grill you buy at Costco in Philly could have been liquidated stock from a Mom & Pop hardware store in rural Kentucky...

They don't necessarily have any on how to buy less than the legitmate retailers... They really don't buy that much of their inventory from the actual manufacturers and distributors of the products.

The thing I find most offensive is the incredible damage they can do to a company such as ML, because no matter what ML does there will now be a group of people out there that don't get the entire story and repeat again and again that Costco is an ML dealer.

At the very least Costco is IMO ethcially obligated to state that they are not an authorized ML dealer. Of course that won't happen.

I will tell you what I told my Sound Advice buddies the other day that were complaining about ML at Costco: I don't sell Martin Logan, B&W, Yamaha, Sony, Integra, Paradigm, Pioneer or Panasonic to my customers. I sell MYSELF and just use those products to have something to leave with them when my wife tells me I have to come home. Costco BB CC nor none of my other competeitors can sell what I sell my customers, ME!

Very soon you will need a fork lift operators liciense to go shopping. That's after Costco, Home depot, Best Buy, and every other big box nightmare merges into one entity. When you walk into the huge warehouse that resembles the last scene from "Raiders of the lost Ark'"....they will hand you the keys, and send you on your way with a polite ..."you're on your own.......good luck".

Got that covered. I'm ready with my forklift certification.
