There are discrete codes in the ir database but they might not be under the h-10. look at all the directv recvrs and towards the bottom of the list of code there will be the discrete power codes just select the code and press the test button to verify that you have the right one

A quick note on the H10. The discretes did not work when they first came out. A software upgrade was required.

Derek is right... I know that code to be good on every 20 I have done but the 10s didn't used to work. Then I noticed that some did. Installers told me that there was a different manufacture. But then again same installer told me that Baltimore doesn't broadcast HD. Needless to say.. what he says goes in one ear and out the other. But he puts up satalites for the company.

Why do you want to turn the satellite receiver on and off? When it is off, it is on but the video output is dead. It consumes hardly any less power. When it is on, any turn-on process is that much simpler because it is already on.

I can see one place for it, and that is when you have to use an automatic switch so you have to kill the video.

If I remember right, the RCA DTC100, maybe some other model, made an even better case for not turning it off -- when you turned it off, its video output stayed on but was a black screen!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I am with Ernie on this one there is no reason to turn it off since it actually remains on. However I still have to use the codes in order to make sure it CAN be turned on when the customer turns it off himself, but it has to be discrete!

I always like to have a On command at teh begining of system macros. Only one guy asked if he could have the light on the front go off when the system was off. I include the On command for the entering DirecTV mode on the remote
