You not only need the programmer for the Via pannels, but the software. The HD is no longer supportrted by Elan, and they only give tech support to authorized dealers, not end users. Good luck. Your best bet is to find an Elan dealer who is willing to help you.

You can pick up a used downloader. They are on ebay quite often. Programming is simple.

I have those.

by Elan,

Yeah, that's pretty much just a paper weight or boat anchor now.

Yes, yes sad but true.

Again Fred, sad but true.

The only help a dealer could give you is to buy it for personal use or as a learning tool as it could never be installed. It would take too much time and effort for anyone but your very best friend to help you out and make that stuff work. So if your best friend isn't an ELAN dealer get rid of it.
If the price was right I'd love to have one of those VIA panels to use as a learning tool.

Good Luck

You can easily use the Via Panels for any number of aplications. They output IR and are very easy to program.

Really? Cool
I'm just getting started programming VIA panels, that's why I said I'd like to buy one for a learning tool.
So what other applications can a VIA panel be used for?

used for?

anything that is controlled via IR, or RS232 with the addition of a SC4, also relays and sensors available with the use of SR1 which will also give you 8 ports of discrete ir output. use Via panels all of the time.
