Ive got a customer w a Smasung HD sat box, connected to a Sim2 Front PJ. It is running form the sat box via a VGA to 5 BNC adapter, then to the pj via a 5 BNC to VGA adapter. It is a PASSIVE adapter.

Ideally we will be replacing this sat box w a newer model, which doesnt support VGA.

Im assuming to go from the new sat box (component) I will need an ACTIVE adapter to go to the PJ (R/G/B/H/V)

The newer box will also have DVI and/or HDMI, but Im assuming it easier to deal w the component transition vs the DVI/HDMI transition.

FWIW, it is an older Sim2 Seleco SDG-700 projector

Sounds like a job for a key digital transcoder

Component to vga is model kd-ctca3

At least one supplier I know carries it (and the earlier switch we discussed....)

I have tried similar units. My projector only has VGA. My HD Sat receiver (Dish 921) has both component and VGA out. The picture did not look as good thru the converter, maybe that is a weakness of the component out of the 921, I have no way to tell. Does anyone have a definitive answer on component to VGA conversion?

if the projo wil do "rgb/yuv" conversion, set it to yuv then you can connect component to the sat recvr. and leave the vga hooked up to the projo

How old is the projector and what model is it? It looks like the SIM2s use a shared input for component/RGB. Check in the Menu and see if there is a colorspace option or something similar.

Maybe just a matter of connecting the new components piece and changing one settings. In fact a have had that happen with more then a few installs dealing with custoemr provided old stuff.
