I was out shopping the local Sears today and came across Moviebeam. Looks like a good idea. Just wondering if anyone is using it and if so, how is it. Looks like an alternative to Blockbuster.

Ive had one for about a month now and I wouldnt say its a replacement for discs due to the lack of movies to watch and the soundtracks not being in surround sound (I think the only ones that have surround are the HD movies).

The picture quality is comparible to DVD's. I have not watched a HD program yet but when I do Ill keep you posted. Overall Im satisfied but still havent been convinced to close my netflix account.

Good luck,

I dont think it will replace netflix because of the price of movies. But there might be a market for the customer who shops at the video store. As with any technology, if more people use it, they would probably expand the amount of movies they show. We have Netflix and we love it. We have watched every movie we wanted to see. Do you pay for every movie you watch ???

Thanks for the reply and the information.

There was a big article in our paper here about Moviebeam. According to the article, you have to pay around $200 for the system and then like $4 for every movie. For $4 a movie, I could go to Blockbuster and not pay the $200.

currently it is only 99 dollars shipped to you. I am not a Moviebeam advocate, was just wondering if other people had used it and if it was any good. I think if they offered any movie on demand it would be a great idea. That is, any movie you want to see is available instantly, that would be great.
