I've used the CE Labs products for years. They've
been very reliable. Will mini RGB work just as
well as the standard stuff in runs over 70'?

Who makes a great balun?

I use the mini RGB all the time for this type of stuff and have done runs that are at least 200+ ft and have never noticed or had an issue, Auto patch makes a great HD Component video switcher, the Precis series. Signature and Liberty have the mini RGB that has a cat5 and an 18/2 bundled in as well that you can use for either rs232 or IR control.

I would expect the mini cable to have larger high frequency losses than standard RG-59, so I wouldn't use it for the entire system. I have seen apparently good results (I don't have Golden Eyes) with a 200' run that someone else did, but I would find some high quality and flexible standard diameter RG-59 and use that.

We're getting to the point where I'm no fun any more...wait, that's another song...we're getting to the point where it is worthwhile to compare performance specs at 100 MHz. So get the specs on that mini cable and see how much loss there is at 100 mHz...remember that loss up there means loss of detail on super-detailed pictures, so going cheap or small with wire will kill you where it counts most.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, guys.

Looks like there's a few ways to get it done right. I like the mini 6 cond RGB, but the cat5 seems more cost effective for the guy who would want to pay less for the prewire and a little extra once he's settled into the house.
Manuals?! We don't need no stinking manuals! a.. er..

Just got our first one last week. Haven't hooked
it up yet, but the demo I got last month was impressive.
I've been using the CT600 almost since it came
out and it is pretty much flawless. We've got
high hopes!

And it comes with baluns for cat5e!!

I'm all for the HD6 too. Why just do distribution when you can have a 9 input, 6 output switcher? Also, the HD6 will transcode Composite and S-Video to component. You can use this with a cat5 to the tv and use their breakout boxes at each tv, or run component from it to each tv
