Any feedback welcome! Would like to hear from anyone who has experience with both AMX & Crestron. Your preferences?

Crestron

More than anything because of the Phast thing.

But none the less we have dozens of Creston projects that just could not be beat. We just fixed a Crestron system that someone else just jacked up. We just added 3 way two panels to the system.

$27k for 3 remotes, what the hell. They can afford it and that is what they want. Pulling out a one way that is going to be replaced by a two way, plus 2 moretwo way panels.

I think you mean you added 3 two way panels to the system right?.
I'm always right. The only time I was wrong was the time that I thought, that I was wrong.

I chose to go forward with AMX about 2 years ago...
Crestron were very demanding, and were basically requiring new dealers to commit to their lighting products, dist. audio products, etc...
They have a strong product, and if I were in that position, I guess I would look for a strong committment.

But, as happy Lutron HWI dealers (who had committed a lot of resources to training on that platform over the recent years) and just people who don't take well to ultimatems, we chose AMX and are very happy.

The AMX training program is easily the best I have seen in 15+ years in this biz... and it is no charge to displaying dealers in good standing.

I left that company, but I still visit some of those projects from time to time and my old partners are still moving right along.

Modero panels and the Netlinx Integrated (NI) processors don't have to apologize to anyone about their features, power, flexibility, etc.

Where is Impaqt?? He should be all over this...

Or Lexus vs. BMW... and the next closest competitors (Vantage, Elan, Home Logic, Life|Ware, C4, etc.) still have fins and huge chrome bumpers in comparison.

10+ Years of Crestron, and now 3 years of AMX.

Both systems can do the same thing when it all comes down to it.

Creston has a significantly broader product line at this point..... I dont like that.... A Lot of products are rebadged from someone else and sold at a significantly higher price than you can buy from the OEM manufacturer.

I've found AMX much easier to deal with, THe current product line is solid. THe aesthetic are better thanCrestron IMO, Performance is great, Availability is good, and very reliable.
Persoanlly, I like my control company to focus on Control.

Oh... And AMX hasnt missed a ship date for a new product in like 2+ years now. Its so nice to be able to bid a new product into a job without worrying about "Will it ship in Time? Will it work when it does ship?"

Thanks, R2,

True, they want their dealers to do a lot of accross the board stuff, Lighting & the Higher End stuff too.
Not just be ADAGIO peddlers all day.

Not sure how happy they would be if we were not cranking out consistant volume of product?

AMX has been really cool overall.

Phast has left such a bad taste in our mouth that we can't go back to AMX .... My vote goes to Crestron .. They have yet to leave us "high and dry" ... Can't say the same for AMX (Phast) ... "Once bitten twice shy" ...

In the last two weeks we pulled out two AudioEase systems and replaced it with Crestron. AMX bought AudioEase then stopped suporting it shortly after.

Oh! The Phast system I removed a few months ago and replaced with Crestron. Phast wasn't supported anymore either.

See a pattern.

Dealing with a Monaco set up, I see a Crestron replacing it soon. Just waiting to work out a budget.

We used both AMX and Crestron on campus. We decided to go to all AMX. Why? the director said so. AMX has great training and support. I don't know much about Crestron so I can't comment on them. I was at Infocomm last week and a company called FSR had a neat little control system. Has IR ports, RS232 ports and relays.
