Anybody familiar with thie Audio Access PX-600 zoned audio system, I am working on a huge home with 22 zones of this stuff and the guy is unwilling to upgrade or change the control system. Looking at the documentation it looks like I need a programmer and proprietary cable to program the system? If this is true does anyone have one they would be willing to sell or any information on this? Thanks,
Joe
Hey, thats a nice plasma, you can put that in the back of my truck...

Maybe you can call them on Monday? Maybe you can call the Rep and get some help if you pretend you are interested in his product. Say like " I have a client with this system. It seems real cool. I want to learn more about it like how it programs. He will probably go into sales mode and totally spill the beans.

sounds like a plan, i will have the boss do that, I am the lowly programmer grunt who was given the mission of making the system work with new sources and existing equipment, I have tried that route already and got an instruction manual... but, if anyone does have a rpogrammer and cable I would be willing to pay(make my boss pay) for the setup if it's old and you dont need it. Thanks,
Joe

Have your boss check with your local, in town, audio access distributor if you want to buy a programmer. We don't have one to rent or loan, and I don't think we have it in stock, but it can be ordered.

This is clearly a billable customer expense.

Don't bother the factory rep, as he'll direct you to the local, intown distributor in Eagan, Minnesota.

I just didn't know how old this system was or if the programmer was still available from Audio access. I will make the boss do his own legwork on this one, thanks for the help...

Does it come with Fred Harding supplied tech support? Using a PX-600 programmer ( which for some reason is always in my truck ) is so very difficult. How do you remove the damned plastic side cover and gain access to the ribbon connector? Where is the ribbon cable stored and how to you fold it up so it fits in the case after using it? Which button turns on the unit. But Fred will surely be the Obie Wan for all Audio Access neophites.

I did think they were on to something with their new line but they will have an uphill fight since they allowed Elan to steal their market.

Thanks for the kind words.

Bring a big dark blanket is the best advice a guy can give on programming with the px600 programmer; I remember sitting under a blanket with a stack of remotes and the proverbial mag light in the mouth on a sweltering day twelve years ago programming.

This is not for the faint of heart.

PX700 is light years better for programming, and it might be worth considering replacing the 600 with that and using the software to set it up....

Was a pillow and nap any way involved here?

Just remember that with the PX-600 there is no way to take advantage of discrete power codes. You must put in the toggle power and hope. Generally they don't get out of sync.

This is an easy system to program. Just get the manual and the programmer. It is the most reliable system I have ever done. Not fancy or flexible but they rarely break.
