I'm considering picking up the JVC LCD line.
They look pretty loaded feature wise.
The LT37X887 has:
ATSC/QAM, 770p, HDMI, firewire
dont know about discretes.
Anybody using these?
It's such a fine line between stupid, and clever.

Discretes work in my experience with the lcds(with the exception of the 23" model, it has no discrete or HDMI capabilities)-the discretes should be easy to find. I love the JVC line but didn't know they did 770P...
Hey, thats a nice plasma, you can put that in the back of my truck...

I just installed a JVC 40" LCD controlled by a Home Theater Master MX-850. It would respond at first to discreet and non-discreet power codes, but after a while it would lock up and not respond to any codes from the MX-850. However, when I used the JVC remote to power it up, it would begin responding again to the MX-850. Then after a few minutes , lock up again!?! I had the same problem a couple of years ago with a JVC plasma, used learned codes and finally got it to work ok. This time I tried to use learned codes but it still locks up. So beware, JVC and Home Theater Master have issues!

That sounds like a toggle bit IR code issue...
Where the remopte issues one code upon the first press, and then a different code on the second press.

Philips TVs and projectors (and any other devices that bought that popular codeset from Philips) from the early 90s through a few years ago all faced this issue.

Your URC remote is only outputting the first code because that is all it knows. Then the factory remote can get it back on sync, or you cycle power to get it back to accepting the first command again.

RTI has a method available in the software to address toggle bit IR codes which has you learn both portions of the toggle, and then sets indicators on usage to keep the remote in sync with the display.

I thought we were done with toggle bit IR on new components.... I guess that was overly-optimistic.
