God this month is going to suck for me... I'm supposed to be at work but I'm glued to the TV watching Germany/Costa Rica.

Anybody want to chime in? Whos going to win this thing?

I know some of you could care less and would rather sit and watch 9 innings of baseball but surely some of you appreciate the World Cup.

Whats soccer? Oh I know, its that cute little game that all the kids play until they get coordinated enough to play a real American sport. :)

Costa Rica v Germany? You really need help. :)

I can't wait. I plan on watching every single game. Of course I have to tivo a few and watch them delayed.

Soccer, America's new National Past-Time.

As far as winner? That's why I love the sport. It's anybodies game on any day.

I saw part of the Germany vs. Costa Rico Game today. Didn't realize that Costa Rico was that good. I'm DVR'ing most of the games, but am planning on taking a long lunch on Monday.

I am on a fairly large job ( 24 Fujitsus, 7 HD IRDs, 2 HD DVRS, 6 HD CATV and 2 DVRS and we have yet to install anything) where the construction crew is from Ecuador. All of their qualifying matches were won at home with the advantage of 9000 ft altitude. I kept teasing them that they would be sad for 4 more years. Last time I checked it was 2-0 Ecuardor.

I love to see the Argentina-England re-rematch in the semi finals. That would be my dark horse team to win. A lot of talent but do they have the ganas to go all the way?

I'd love to see a tie with Italy so mass depression could ensue. I would hardly be surprised if the US team does not advance to the second round even though they are vastly improved over 4 years ago.

I will be trying to catch as much as I can, I coach, my son plays, my wife once was president of a local club, so yes we are Soccer(football) fans.
As for a real American sport... Maybe it's time America realized the rest of the world plays this game, and is better at it then they are.
Baseball...what the heck is that, 4 hours of my life I'll never get back.
American football... real men play Rugby. :)

First... Soccer Club? They have those in the states?

Second.. It may be 4 hours.. But the majority of baseball games.. WHich some people call a slow boring game..... have higher scores than soccer games.

It's funny how many people here have never been to a spectacle like the World Cup and just have NO idea. I spent a Month in France in 98 and took in a lot of US games in 94. Following the Brazilians around is a guaranteed party. Hangin with thousands of them and a big group of drunken Norwegians in the big square near Notre Dame (not the college... the one in Paris) watching the match on a huge outdoor screen was something that I've rarely seen matched here... even NFL Playoffs and basketball conference finals or baseball divisional playoffs. America is definitely not up to the rest of the world.

Germany rocked today... some of those goals were fantastic! Even so it was in doubt until the 86th minute.

Whoever said I needed help is probably right on but screw it... every 4 years this is my event. I'm used to the unenlightened crying about not enough scoring... the same people probably take 2.5 minutes to make love to a woman to... (need instant gratification). One of the best matches I ever saw was a 0-0 tie... its the build up... the goalkeeping... the pace... its just f---g cool... but hey, if you don't think so you are certainly entitled to pick your own pleasures in life!

I'm really hoping the US gets out of the first round but we really got a tough draw... may not happen. Even if we do we'll probably get pitted against Brazil in the Round of 16. I think its England's year!

I saw the US and Columbia when the cup was here in LA, and US and Mexico the week before the cup. 100,000 + people for both games at the Rose Bowl. Too bad it is such an unpopular game.

My grandpa used to take me to games in Brighton (England) when I was a kid, standing room only. I only wish I was old enough to understand the partying at that time.
