We had a rep come in the other week and one of his lines was Sherbourn. Looks like really great stuff and I like that it's a small focused company building rock solid components. The only problem is that we're using Audio Control (another rock solid product) for the majority of our Theaters. I can't see ditching the Diva so we still have to keep close with AC.

It acutally looks like Sherbourn's got Audio Control in their sights if you look at the pricing and power comparisons.

What would you do?

Both are fine products, and carrying both would be superfluous unless you're the only show in town and are doing enough numbers to satisfy both.

oxjox, you do systems with the Diva? - that's cool, do you also do your own Iasys or does AC/C. Jones do it for you? What does Sherbourn do for correction?

We have done one system with the Diva and Jones came out to show us how it works.

We did another theater with Synthesis and someone came out for that one too.

I definitly perfer the Diva over the SPD5.

I don't see that Sherbourn offers any corrective device - you could always use someone elses like the Diva or Lexicon. Synthesis sure is loud, but personally I think it sounds like crap. But that's a discussion for another thread.

Anyone going to the show in Hightstown tomorrow?

We have done 2 of the perfection 7.1 systems with AudioControl, what a system..we used the Triad Silver inwall monitors up frony and silver mini monitors for sides and rears with silver subs and the 500w amps, the room has ARS and ACS builds on them and room looks great.

I havent worked with sherborne but it looks nice, I have also done quite a few Synthesis systems a few years back...did a syn 1package back in 2001 that won a CEDIA best home theater level 4, that was one of the best rooms I have ever heard

We do all our own Diva calibrations and own a iasys, nice tool for other systems too, we used it on a job that the owner owned his own speakers and was having us tell him why it sounded bad, we pulled out the Iasys and ran a few quick tests and revealed that a few of his speakers were out of phase, center coundnt keep up with the left and rights, sub was over bearing and after rewiring a few speakers and getting him to up the center it was much smoother sounding..and we made a few $$$ for a couple of hours of running a few tests and selling a speaker
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

I'm not too familiar with Sherbourn or A/C, but I hear folks here & at IP talk about them periodically? In a HT or media room-type setup, what exactly do Sherbourn or A/C products net you over another quality pre-pro/amp (e.g., Parasound NC?) setup?

I was once a HT enthusiast and now I occasionally use the 3052 only when I can get an eq in. I really need to do less drilling and more miking...Man I wish I could play an instrument...and be in a band...

The Diva is an elite ht product. So a few years back, I asked AC if they would ever bring a low end Diva, and of course they looked at me funny. After all they do make ht eq’s so why not take it a little further without going full Diva. Something for the rest of us with the primary corrections would be fair. And it would promote the benefit of separates.
