I need help. With a KDMSW8X4. this is our 1st install with this product. We researched it very well and now it just plain does not work.
We are using Belden wire, mini RGB with Pro Connect Component Video ends at the Plasmas or LCD monitors and BNC connectors at the switch.
We have no picture at all, and no sound. My sources are HD Satellite receiver, Marantz DVD player, Yamaha CD/DVD Player, and a VCR.
At the rear of the panel layout Page 7 of the manual, Input 1 is my DVD player. Top to bottom, component video green, red, blue, I skipped the grey and used white , orange for video. ( analog).
My 1st monitor is a LCD going to Output 1, and again I just followed the color code from top to bottom.
Question 1 Am I laying this down wrong or are my Proconnect connectors failing me. I do not have a cable tester for the mini RGB cable. It's crimp and pray.
Any input would help.
Mike

If you barrel the feeds from a source directly to one of the cables going to a display bypassing the Knox switch all together does that work? It would definately rule out a cable or display issue if you did that and it worked. "At the rear of the panel layout Page 7 of the manual, Input 1 is my DVD player. Top to bottom, component video green, red, blue, I skipped the grey and used white , orange for video." Hook it up according the the color rings around the connectors as well, component video red and green inputs are on the bottom not the top.

Talked to tech support today about the new fat boys and the two analog audio inputs CANNOT pass any video type. Those are the white and orange colored connectors. Personally, I was surprised to hear this but maybe you're proving the point.

Great advice about bypassing the fatboy and barrel connecting. If it works, we have a sick chubby one. If it doesn't, check the cable going to your device by plugging your dvd player into it straight. If that doesn't work, bypass the cable going to the video device and hotwire the dvd direct to the display. If that doesn't work, turn on the tv and work backwords....(just kidding mike).
If we supplied it, call me in the am.

We just removed all the Proconnect Orange body BNC connectors and replaced them with Belden BNC connectors.
Our local AVAD was great on Tech support and getting us through the problem.
The Fat Boy powered right up and the picture quality is excellent.

So the ProConnect BNCs were bad (defective) or the Belden's just fit and worked better?

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions. |

in the future you might want to test your connections before you crimp.
when using rgbhv mini, I put my ends on, test for continuity with a u test em cable tester, then crimp one end, test again, crimp other end, and test again. More work in the beginning, but saves loads after the equipment has been installed.

Please Note: The problem could have been a bad termination on the green feed only.

just my .02 Especially when using a 8x4 matrix... there's a whole lot of chance for error. I'm just finishing a racking and testing perior on a big system using the Fatboy... and I did have a surprising amount of bad BNC ends. I think that its easy to lose focus and rush...when you have that 100 or more fittings to put on in a row.... Test as you go, and take breaks...
