So whats the deal with these 2 units. I have tried taking the Motorola DCT6412 and connecting it to a Pioneer VSX74 with an HDMI and I get some message about the HD signal and it does work. It tells me to use an RGB cable. Any one know whats up and how to get around this?

I had issues last week with the same units; vsx-74*** & dct6412 using only component video. Strange thing is it cleared itself up overnight by itself! Reciever would not pass component video signal from dct6412. It would pass comp vid from dvd no problem. I'm thinking our local cable company did an overnight update of some kind. Did not ever figure out why it failed the day before & worked the next day. I tryed for an hour to make it fail.
Life is short, enjoy yourself!

in my case it was the other direction. System worked for weeks then Comcast updated the software and suddenly handshake fails. That sucked...

The DCT6214 HDMI output will work direct into the display HDMI input.......it will not work on most receivers with HDMI switchers. Motorloa know this and supposedly there is a fix in the works. I do not know if it a downloadable upgrade from the cable company or if the unit has to be physiccally modifies . Has anyone heard any more dirt on this topic? any timelines ? anyone actually talked to Motorola?
