OFA RF extender with IR

Not sure if any of you may have used this with 'custom' installs but worth a shot..
I wanted to be able to control my gear from a bedroom (upstairs from gear). Rather then trying to do a very difficult wire run I opted for the One for All 9800 remote with RF receiver. The receiver has an IR supermini output, which I hooked up to a Imagine IR-100 IR connecting block. The green light on the connecting blcok lights very dimly if at all (power supply is good) and the IR emitters I hooked up don't work at all, or if so maybe about 5% of the time. So not sure if there is some kind of incompatiblity or what the dim light means on the connecting block..
