A client wants a turntable to record LPs to his Request. Is there a reasonably good, reasonably priced table that has at least auto lift at the end of the side?

I'd recommend borrowing one from a friend if this is a one-time desire.

What is reasonable price? Sub-$500, I would think. He's not an audiophile when it comes to vinyl, just a music buff with a collection.

www.turntablelabs.comThese guys do all sorts of DJ stuff. Their recent newsletter had a turntable with built-in phono preamp for something like $180. A few months ago they had one at or near $100. They have a store in NY and another in Los Angeles.

Owen, Call Saturday Audio Exchange in Wrigleyville and see what Andy has laying around down there or in the Evanston location... also, Joe C. is usually in there on Saturdays.
They are still one of the best used buy/sell/trade audio stores in the US.

Also, I know an audio dealer in Milwaukee who do some magical conversion work. They have a well-maintained and excellently setup Linn LP-12 transcription table connected to a Meridian A/D converter. Then they feed the digital signal into a Denon CD recorder.
I know that as recently as a few years ago they used to transfer vinyl to CD for people with rare LP collections for a nominal fee per album.
If you are interested, call/write me and I will give you the number.

I met Andy in 1980; he's one of the increasingly few guys in this industry that predate me. Joe in there every Saturday? Why does that not surprise me?
