I stand up for electrical contractors all the time, but the ones who installed this were the biggest EC firm in my brother's city (not a small city!).

As an electrician, I can say, with no hesitation, that this is just about the worst work I've seen.

I personally like the dangling hub/router. Actually, there's a bunch of dangling stuff. Clearly, an organized mind at work.

I've seen worse, but this is pretty bad. I can't quite tell what brand box it is. Kinda looks like Leviton, but a little like OnQ. Not that it matters, but who's ever box it is needs to find out who installed it and have a discussion with them.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was done by a licensed, certified company. QQQ is this what you were talking about as "professional?"
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Looks like most of the modules weren't clipped into the enclosure.
Did they fall out?
Was there an earthquake?

The color coding on the audio wires is a nice touch, but wait it's red and green, might these be the incoming telephone feed for line 1?

Is that what they are? I saw the zip cord bundled up, I hope that they aren't using that in the walls.

No, he does not live in Minnesota, but that's all I will say!

This was the actual finished cabinet in his rebuilt home. This is not after a few years (or even few days) of tweaking. Amazing

I am as hard on electricians as most people-just like they should be if we tried doing High Volt-but unfortunately, I ran across a job that a CEDIA dealer who is also a Crestron, SpeakerCraft, TRIAD, B&K dealer did that looked just as bad-if not worse.

I wish there was more outrage in the builder/client community over this type of work-we see it all the time.....

People wouldnt be ok if there cabinets were this f'd up or there carpets orpaint, etc. etc..

That’s why there are so many conductors in cat5; the wire needs to be strong enough to support the weight of the router.

Julie,

Explain to me why everyone wusses out when it comes to ratting on some feeble minded, lazy, incompetent hacks. Why don't we spread the word? If it's their work it isn't libal to call 'em on it, is it?

I agree with this.

I think this company would be PROUD to have a sign in that picture:

Another "quality" installation by .............

Well, maybe not proud, but at least their reputation would be out there for all to see...

Libel? I think not.

And if they were so foolish to take it to court. Would it go something like this?

"Well your honor, they put a picture of our installation online. And they dared to place our company name on the picture."

Judge Judy fodder for sure.....

My brother is still trying to get it fixed. Playing it safe.
