Neat unit.
Goes back to the late 80's.

Do you remeber the Phinial Technologies turntable? It was designed and by a blind person. It was truely amazing... never got the funding it needed to launch.

You mean Finial? It says on that site that Finial was bought out by the company that owned ELP. I never realized that this has been around for a while. I had actually never heard of it before.

Starting list price is $15k . Nice chunk of change for a turntable. :-)

We got cut sheets for this unit in "86".
It was stupid expensive even then.
They also aimed it archive managers (no damage to records).

J Valin reviewed this TT in Absolute Sound a couple of months ago. Wasn't terribly fond of it. BTW, 15k is cheap compared to many of the 'high end' tables out there. Look at Rockport Technologies, they have 1 model at 90 thousand and several more north of 50. Many others at this price level too. Gotta love the high end.

Ooops! FINIAL! HE has invented a bunch of other totally amazing things. I saw and heard it demo'd at a CES show in the mid eighties... Blew me away - especially when they introduced the inventor.
