I have a question to everyone in the U.S. (slight
hi-jack here but Dunkin Donuts was in the original
post). I live in Melbourne Australia and a Krispy
Kreme donughts is opening near me soon with great
fanfare and the like. This is the second store
over here i think. Are thier doughnuts any good
or what? I ask because we hear the name mentioned
in movies and TV shows but no-one has tasted one
over here to ask and frankly Starbucks coffee
sucks compared to what you can buy in any cafe
here, but IT opened with a lot of hoopla as well?

Sorry about the hi-jack.

OK on the Krispy Kreme subject. It must be a southern thing but we have had them here as long as I have been alive! It was a sunday afternoon tradition to go watch as they made your donut. Hot glazed chocolate is scrumptous. Gotta get em HOT!

QQQ, I also design and program systems of this scale and always stress the importance of a solid wiring infrastructure. In large scale broadcast and production facilities I have worked on there is no expense spared when it comes to cabling. Adjust your budget with equipment choices that are easier to change later than the wiring.

Here is a quick story. I worked on a large communications NOC where they skimped on BNC connectors to save money since there where about 3000 of them on the job. They had to pay the union electricians to re-terminate when the cheapo connectors where failing left and right during testing! So besides the labor to re-terminate there was extensive overtime in order to complete the job on time. I don't think the integrator made a dime on that one.

I stopped drinking D&D coffee at the beginning of this year. Instead I brew my own and save big $$.

Show the client some video footage of the space
shuttle exploding to show him what happens when
you substitute something with something "cheaper".

Probably effective but also quite morbid. I was never a fan of scare tactics.

OK! I'll bite. I've found that at these dollar stores you can get like a pound of Indonesian coffe for - you guessed it - a dollar! You could shave your yearly coffe budget by like $1000 at the rate I drink coffee from Starbucks alone. Hey, there is like .05% savings you can pass along.

My productivity would drop if I quit the Starbucks
habit. Four shot latte with a large bore IV needle
on the side, to go, every morning.

Are you joking about the 4 shots or serious? How many do you drink a day on average? I'm trying to figure out how bad my habit is compared to others.

I drink a pot of coffee before I walk out the door in the morning. If it's gonna be a long day I grab a mocha after leaving the shop headed out to the job site. If my hands get shaky, then I over did things a bit.

I probably win the race for worst caffine habit. I drink a 12 pack of diet Mountain Dew every day. No wonder I only sleep 4-6 hours a night. Coffee tastes disgusting to me and it makes for some pretty rank breath for your clients.

I'm serious. It used to raise the eyebrows of the baristas. Now they're used to me. :-)

One or two a day, plus a few Diet Pepsis. I've cut back, believe it or not.

Personally, I greatly prefer Dunkin's coffee to that of Starbucks, and their doughnuts to those of Krispy Creme's.

Every Dunkin Doughnuts we had closed up and they keep on building new Krispy Kremes everywhere.
I do not see how you can even compare the two. DD has a cakelike quality and KK is light and fluffy. The ones in the grocery store are not fresh and are best used as hockey pucks.

I swear by Dunn Bros cold press every morning. Packs more punch than the 3 or 4 shot $5 lattes and mochas I used to drink and it usually costs less than $2 for a large.

You have to be sure it is cold press and not just espresso poured over ice. There is a difference between cold press and iced coffee.

Who needs coffee and doughnuts when you can wake up to Jack Daniels and Beer nuts.
