I wonder what the folks at Channel Vision said to you when you tried to return this unit to them, or to exchange it for a new one, as yours is definitely bad.

Nobody has commented on this for about a year and a half. That means either that nobody has taken avbydesign's advice and bought this piece, or that whoever has bought it has not had the problems you have...so your problems indicate a defective unit. And either way, it hasn't been a problem in a year and a half. Which brings up a question: how many of these did you try? Warranties exist because it is understood that a small percentage of units will be bad out of the box or will die soon after being put into use. A sample of one does not make a warning valid.

tkb,
I know you're new here, but that's why you don't know that it's okay and even preferred for you to start a new thread if you have something to say or ask. Some new members have revived threads one to five years old either to supply a new answer or to go off on a tangent to ask a new question, and these people have often been flamed for not being relevant. I think that's one reason why an old thread like this actually has its old date of origin in the listing: it's a note from the administrator that this is an old topic, which often means an irrelevant one. In general, it is better accepted if you just start a new thread. Don't be shy: if you can post, you can start a new thread.

If you have a new answer about an old subject, consider that the people who wrote back then probably got the issue resolved or have moved on to other things.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

On the other hand you may get flammed for not searching old threads. Screwed either way.
But look at Mr.Stanley, he got his start here by digging up hundreds of old threads and was only slapped down when he resurrected a thread from "He who shall not be named". His post count here is approaching 4000.

Not necessarily. If you search the old threads and find your answer, there won't be a need to dredge up the old thread and add a new post. You are right, though, that if the old thread doesn't have the answer you're looking for, adding a post to it would be reasonable.

I guess at that point you run into us not wanting to have to cope with someone doing what Mr. Stanley did at first, bringing up HUNDREDS of old resolved or forgotten crap (it's crap now, but it wasn't back then), so someone like me just steps on you like a bug. Sorry.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
