The Kustom (now NuVo) KHS-4640 had its own, stupid pin-out. It is NOT like a 568A or 568B Ethernet pin-out. It is the same as the old AT&T straight through phone cable.

Pin 1 on one side goes to pin 8 on the other.
Pin 2 to 7
Pin 3 to 6
Pin 4 to 5
Pin 5 to 4
Pin 6 to 3
Pin 7 to 2
Pin 8 to 1

This created such a HUGE problem for Kustom (a million calls to tech support) that when they changed to NuVo, they went with a standard patch cable pin-out.

Thank you for the quick response. I took a net journey to find the info and finally wised up and placed my post here at RC. I should have started here first.

thanks again davidcasemore.

This post made me get up and look at my pile of old crap... Yep, I have a KHS-6640 with 7 keypads and the users manual. I installed several of these about 5 years ago. From what I remember there support was pretty good, I had to change out a few amp cards and they were sent out right away, no charge and no questions. Most likely it was a grounding issue, but I remember having to put shorted rca's on any unused source inputs.

I checked, and I still have their number for support. I dialed it and it still works, email me if you want it.

Thanks Canyon, The Kustom system was from a project I did years ago. And it is in perfect condition, so I gave it to my friend and he wants to install it.

thanks for the support.
