I have a client with the following problem.

1st the gear.

1.Samsung Slim Fit TV
2. Denon AVR 985s
3. Denon DVD player
4. Cable Box with RCA out, Motorola with Charter Cable Company.
5.4 db of power right before the cable box

My problem is on channels 7 and 8 they flash in and out. Sometimes with a mild popping sound. The 1st time the client complained we went to the home and it did not do this.

This is a vaction home, the following weekend it started again. We went back and still after 20 minutes no problem found.

The client calls the cable TV company, and it does it all the time but only on channels 7 and 8.

The Charter TV guy changes the box, same problem.

He removes the RCA cables from the Denon and goes direct to the TV with coax only. Problem went away.

the home is 1 hour and 10 minutes from the shop. Any input would help.

Sounds like a bad "F" termination.
Bad terminations can manifest themselves in many different ways.
The most common is with a specific channel (or a small group of).
The denon Receiver could have a more sensitive input than the TV.
Try reterminating from the CATV box back to the house input point (please check all inwall connections).

This could also be ground loop related. Cable box installations in our neck of the woods are notorious for stimulating ground loop type problems.
