Whats the consesus on Polk speakers on here, as far as sound and build quality?

Not worried about in-wall or in ceiling, just towers, bookshelves, or on walls

Ive used the Monitor series and Rti/Fxi series for entry level systems.

Just curious how thye compare to the other lines out there in the same (respectable) price points.

tnx
No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall.

I'd say the LSI15s and 25's are great speakers for the money.

The RTI bookshelves aren't bad for a lower-end starter pair.... not too thrilled with the Monitor 70's. If you're going to go for towers, just get the LSI series and be done with it.

I'm a HUGE promoter of Polk Audio....I use everything in their line except Monitors (don't deal with that low of an end client).

LSI's are IMHO the best speaker anywhere close to their pricepoint. I've put them in dozens of customer's homes, and not a single complaint. The LSi9's are simply beautiful.

The in-ceiling stuff is great, too....they have a new line called TC which is a step between the RC-series and the LCi-series which is great for theater applicaitons where you are limited on placement.

I've had probably 2 or 3 bad drivers in 5+ years of using them.

Just my $.02 worth

Ditto Fred's previous comments. Polks are excellent value and sound for the money. I sell them like crazy. Their CSW200 in ceiling sub is awesome.

Was at a install last month where customer had decided that the job someone else did a few months ago wasn't good enough. "Could you guys come in and look at it and see what could be done?"

Dim the light start the movie and ohh my god it sounded awful. You have to try to make things sound this bad.

Me "Do you know what sort of speakers you have??? "
Customer"I think the invoice said Polk."

The front wall has a facade and the screen is set back in it. There are pull outs that look like where I expoected to find book shelves or some sort of large monitor. Pull out the cover from about head hight when standing and am greated by a POLK TOWER. Mounted in the caviaty about 5.5 feet off the ground... UP SIDE DOWN!

I couldn't contain it and I but out laughing. My Boss was in the middle of a pitch in the next room. Well the other tech come over and sees it an we were suddely STERNLY told to cut it out.

Well I bet the speakers might have sounded a whole lot better on the ground and not inside a megaphone.

Nothing is going to sound great stuck into a cavity like that, but if the towers really are 5 feet off the ground, turining them upside down would at least keep the tweeters closer to ear level.. Certainly better then having them up at 9 feet, nice and close to the celing...

I don't sell them because there is too much competition from Big Box stores. But I owned a pair of their large powered towers a few years back and loved em'. Their bookshelves are pretty nice too.

What competition? They have minimun sell points, so I am gauranteed a set profit. Many times, I have had customers challenge my prices on the Polk speakers only to go shop me and find out what I already knew.

I didn't mean pricing really, more the fact that if the customer can buy them virtually anywhere it associates us with the Big Box stores in their eyes somewhat. If customers ask about them, I tell them they are great and where to get them as I do with other products like Son&, we only deal products that customers usually can't attain themselves. Maybe we're just weird...

Yeah, but it can work in reverse as well. First of all, its a brand name that is easily recognizable and if they really want to hear them, I tell them to go check them out and let me know what they think.
