You can:
Send the Protocol to Elan and have them add it.
or,
if you have the registry key installed that allows you to write your own serial commands, you can write them yourself. Do you have a link to the protocol?
or,
you can send have someone else write the drivers, and then just import them into ViaTools.

You can only do 1 way control anyway. VIATools has the IR codes for the Iport in its library for this.
A much less expensive alternative is using the DLO HomeDock Deluxe. It outputs the iPod GUI over composite video. You can create an overlay to provide control while the GUI appears on the screen.

Do you need a IR flasher attached to the front of the dock? Or can you use a 3.5mm plug, or hide the flasher inside the dock's bottom?
...couple a thumb tacks and a stick of double sided tape should hold this baby up...

There is no rear IR input. I'm sure it can be disassembled and modified though.

you need the registry key to code you own 232.
Call Elan tech support they will send it to you.
