Hello...
When watching a DVD movie on my projector, the image dims about 3 times in stages, pauses for about 20 seconds, then brightens about 3 times in stages. Like dim, dim, dim, pause, brighten, brighten, brighten. The stages are not too drastic, but very annoying. All my audio/video equipment is routed through my Marantz SR4200 and the signal comes out the S-video and RCA monitor outs to both the tv and the projector.

Any ideas?

Does it do it on several discs? Could be a case of
macrovision, nemesis to bootleggers everywhere....
Any possibility that you are running the dvd through a vcr? That would cause what you are describing.
Otherwise, remove the av receiver from the mix and directly connect the dvd to the projector. That should tell whether you have a dvd player issue or a receiver issue.

I had a Pioneer 444 & used to get that flashing on & off ocassionally. Switched to a Toshiba 5700 haven't had it since. Maybe some players are more sensitive to it??
