Hi,
I keep reading about there products any feedback? It looks like a cool concept but is it reliable & easy to install & does it sound good?
Thanks,
Matt

I have signed up to do the online training, but don't seem to ever have the time to finish a lesson.

It is very interesting concept, and I have seen some jobs that seem to work good. I am a little uncertain of the price vs feature aspect (i.e. you can do similiar things for much less). But, in all fairness, I have not installed one yet.
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

We have one system in. My boss who resists change like you would not believe was ready to jump in whole hog after our inital install. Sure he wasn't the one fixing it when he killed the subnet mask...

Anyways system was in and up and operational with 7 zones. System had worked for several months with no issue. We added the intercom module when it came out and it continued to work. System was untouched by us and just worked day in and day out for the last few months. On Saturday with a bunch of people over Boss decided to load new firmware and new dealer setup on his computer. System has been DEAD since then. We spent all of Saturday trying everything with little or no progress. Spent most of yesterday on it... very little change. Been going back and forth with Netstreams and they said they will have a fix either today or later this week. Sure... its not like the customer bitches at them...

Waiting for the call back from enginering right now... if they made progress with it then we will go back down there today and mess with it.

Remember... before this latest eppisode the system has worked perfectly with a local port that goes into the system. An Audio Request running 4 streams. A polk XM tuner with Icons and Preset on the Touchlinxs. And one multidisc CD player.

The latest firmware was to add Ipod RS-232 control... and improve the 232 on the XM tuner.

Boss is no longer... "Lets talk to some builders and get this system in there."

Will let you know how it goes....

Edit... They just called and said the issues is worse then we initally thought and that we had to have tech/engineering/US on one call. This should be tomorrow morning.

Just completing the office "DEMO" system, three touchlinx zones, two audio in/out plates, 50 watt digital amps, medialinx and so on.... running just a Request, Multi-CD, Panasonic IP Camera and intercom features, connected the 24 port switch to our office network, added WIFI for wireless FLASH usage of the touchlinx, downloaded and ran the dealer setup program, updated ALL devices, configured all devices, the system was up and running in around 4 Hours, all work done by myself, i repeat, 4 hours..... This system so far is ABOVE ALL EXPECTATIONS! Every employee in my company as well as all incoming customers have touched, pressed, hit, bumped, un-plugged, kicked, and played with every keypad on the system, and it is still standing strong. Hopefully this system will continue to rock, we are connecting Radio-Ra/Savoia QED's this week, as well as some medialinx to integrate the Theater with.
Ill keep ya posted.

BTW, i dont work for netstreams, i was actually very weary at first, coming from only russound, xantech, elan and so on....

BTW2, im still VERY exicited!

1 house, 14 zones, 6 sources including Escient with 4 streams, Polk XM, Lutron lighting, and Aprilaire HVAC control. Works like a champ so far...I haven't been out to do the firmware update yet, and think I'll wait until I hear what happens to Springs....

Good luck, man, and talk to Randy @ Netstreams for your tech support, he's one awesome tech.

Regards,

Fred Forlano

You know - we had a similar horrible experience with Netstreams ...between Netstreams product failing/doa/breaking/not updating properly, being mis-informed about product availability etc. etc. etc ...and "tech" support if you could call it that. I think the Touchlinx is cool but more expensive than crestron - so what's the point? The Musica sounds horrible. We had an entire 6 zone system die within 2 days. Got a replacement...not sure if it's working or not...cliend dosn't even use it. bla bla bla...basically it's too new a product and too experimental a technology.

Netstreams got back to me yesterday eve. They said they think they have a fixed file for us to load. When I get to the site I will load it up and see what happens.

They asked me questions specific to what the other designer "may have done". I told them I was not there when he wrote it and can not speak intellignetly about what ... "may have been done".

Any how they think they managed to reproduce the problem and I HAVE THE FIX! Well we hope. Customer is out of town... thank GOD!

We got a new program from Netstreams and after loading it we are back and working.

Only issue is that the HArd button that shuts off the system is no longer working on 2 touchlinx.

Randy showed up and helped out a lot with the new program. They think the issue was caused by how the program was built. But it doesn't "jibe"

But like I said system is up. The fact that you can't shut it off is a pisser for my boss.

Cliff called today and said that the file I sent over on Friday never made it. I don't know if they can find the glitch in hardware in the file. But I am optimistic.

Installed 3 Musica systems and 4 DigiLinX system and haven't had too many problems. Their tech support is second to none. One thing I learned is to make sure to install every system with a UPS. They have some cool marketing tools and the new skins are very easy to program. Technical documentation has gotten better but there are still some inconsistencies there.

I have done quite a few digilinx systems, including beta testing for them. It is a great product but I will agree with ebecker that they never seem to get these releases and firmware updates out without bugs. I wish they would just pre-release to a few select people first to do testing before they mass release them. Would end up saving a ton of time. To answer the original question though, they are reliable (for the most part) and easy to program and install. I think the sound is very good for a DA system, though still slightly underpowered.

Have any of you guys tried out the panorama cat5 4x6 component video matrix? It seems like a good stand alone piece and I am thinking of trying it out.

Thanks

I have not tried that product yet, but I have one bid out that includes it. I saw it at their suite at the CES show and the picture quality was great -- even over 500 feet of CAT5. Product looked good, just haven't tried it yet.
