Has anyone investigated pulling the speakers off the Samsung HP-R4272 and HP-R5072 Plasmas? It looks like they would fall off if you took a few screws out. The IR sensor looks like the only issue and that could be tucked behind the set and have a flasher put on it.
Better is the nemesis of good.

There are at least 10-15 screws.....and yes the Infrared eye and power button is the only piece that need be attended to after you are finished......(they are "one" piece........)

(vague in my memory) there is a 6-10 wire molex plug that connects the IR/power button to the unit itself...........I did not extend this plug, I just wrapped it behind the unit and placed a flasher on it.........

worked perfectly..........

Downside........The blue flashing as the unit recieves IR and when it powers up and down...........

Nice though............
If you can't be good, be good at it.

yes you can remove the speakers from the TV, but you will have to tuck the sensor behind the TV or cover it in some fashion. You have to remove some of the screws of the casing of the plasma near the speakers to get the brackets of the speakers out. The speakers have a little lip that sits inside of the casing.
