I have also never seen any ZON systems installed in my area.

But then I guess the local populace has had no desire to have somene install a big ugly knob on the wall of their rather expensive homes.

And the ZON system has to have the ugliest in a long line of ugly wall controls. No?

Klipsch?

Is okay I suppose. But there are so many other speakers that are measurably better...

not every
single room in every single house requires "audiophile"-
(whatever that means) grade components?

I have always thought that room acoustics can play a larger role in sound quality than the speakers themselves, in some situations. What do you put in the master bath or powder room?

If we are being true to the goal of seeking higher fidelity, then an ideal loudspeaker should have no "sound" at all. In other words, it should be completely transparent, an open door to the musical performance. An accurate speaker's role is to replicate--precisely--the sounds of musical instruments or voices exactly as they were present in the original source recording. The speaker shouldn't add any sound of its own--it shouldn't make strings and violins sound screechy or edgy, nor should it artificially add bass emphasis to male singers' voices so they sound too bassy or "fat" a common trade to every Klipsc speaker I have ever listen to. It is inherent in the physics of the design – by compressing the sound waves at the throw of the lens it is impossible to do away with horn-loading “a nosily sound added to the sound of an accentuated sax” (ex. Kenny G)

…by any chance did anyone of you Klipsc fan stop by the Meridian booth at CEDIA?

….Or perhaps sat in from of a set of Tannoy Monitors?

Until one understand and listens to the different between a well balance silk dome and a piezzo it will be difficult to enlight anybody…!

At the end of the day…sound is an objective representation of ones hearing and life style for some of us who have had the opportunity to experience a well represented recorded play back – demand a little better then a string of Motorola piezzos on a fury box with a couple of accordion surrounded 15” woofers.

Best Regards from MIA….

It's been many years since I heard Kilpsch but I always considered them an upscale version of BOSE...not remotely close to the way real music sounds but pleasing to the ears of many people. To each his own.

I try to sell speakers with soft domes as much as possible like Atlantic Technology. To my ears they are more accurate and less fatiguing. I don’t care for horn tweeters at all but the horns in the Acoustech speakers though bright are impressive for a horn.

We sold them for a while. The only people we sold them to were metal-heads who came in and said "What do you have that will play LOUD?". Sometimes they were the perfect answer. Just about every other speaker we sell/sold crushes Klipsch on sound quality, but they were great for taking a beating and not coming back to us broken.

Yep, it was the one speaker that didn't blow when most of the others did. The moment I knew I had a cranker on my hands I directed him to the Klipsch.

I made the mistake of agreeing to install a Zon system last summer for a guy that agreed to time & materials. He "Got a good deal on it on the internet". Obviously, I had not had any factory training on the stuff, but looked at it & decided to go ahead. I actually thought the "big knob" looked kinda cool w/blue back lighting, but that's where it ended. Real low powered, limited capabilities, tech support was good though. The guy in tech support was impressed with the fact that I came up with my own programming ideas that they did not use normally & wanted me to contract for installs in my area. I declined. Customer ended up unhappy because he had higher expectations of "how easy he thought it would be to use". I got paid, but lost any possible refferrals out of it. Live & learn. Erik
Life is short, enjoy yourself!
