Klipsch and ZON Part Ways

Two years ago, Oxmoor Corp., developer of the ZON digital audio distribution
system, entered into an exclusive global distribution agreement with Klipsch
Audio Technologies.

Oxmoor would create products, and Klipsch would sell the gear through its
extensive network of dealers and other channel partners.

Today, the two companies announced an end to that two-year agreement, with
Oxmoor citing in a press release the "opportunity to develop additional
domestic and international relationships to further broaden the product
line."

I wonder how the Crutchfield deal is working out for them? Zon's intention was to be a household name, and Crutchfield was going to help get them there.

And, of course, all of CI would benefit from the "increased consumer awareness!"

Heh.

I must be the exception - we've done a couple of Zon installs, and I thought their system was fine for its designed purpose.

Am I the only one who believes that certain products are good for certain situations, and not every single room in every single house requires "audiophile"- (whatever that means) grade components?

And what the heck is the matter with Klipsch's better speakers?

My two cents . . .

I've been a Klipsch dealer for 30 years so I've sold & installed a *few* of these speakers. I've also used a *few* older JBL, Altec & ElectroVoice horns in the olden days. I must be missing something... enlighten me too!

As far as ZON goes, I will admit to being flat-out confused what the breakthrough was supposed to be. I only donated less than an hour in the ZON booth at CEDIA as a courtesy to my Klipsch rep, but I just could not figure the technical, price or marketing attraction of the "big knob" & "tiny menu" interface.

My theory was that since Oxmoor had the lock on the "big knob" business, it was kind of like the old joke that if the only tool you have is a hammer, then every problem looks like a nail...

Can any ZON fans enlighten me?
