I have had two bad TSU-7500 in the last two weeks (seems like a corrupted or bad memory chip) - even after re-flasing the firmware. - Philips tech support has no idea what I am talking about.

- The remote freezes or turns off while learning IR Codes (to get it to power back up) I have to disconnect and connect the battery.

I had an issue like this a few years ago with TSU-2000 – Just wondering if anybody else is having this issue perhaps I need to back off from selling these units for a while.

Were you trying to learn with it attached to the computer? If so this is a known issue. Happens all the time. You have to hit rest to get the computer and the remote talking again.

If its happening in stand alone... I have not seen that.

...well year to date. I have sold about 25 (TSU-7500) this is the first time I run into this. it was an issue a while back but I have not seen it happen in a while. On the TSU-6000 was cause by lack of volatge (using a 6 Volts trasformer and seating the remote in the cradle while programing did away with that - but not this time - this remotes are locking up to where they don't respond to anything

*(Yes the remote is attach to the PC while seating at the cradle)

Search the NG Forum for a thread I started with the word "constipation" in its title. I had the same problem. Apparently the newest firmware has such a bug in it. I "solved" my problem by taking a newly ordered and received TSU7500 to the site and loading the same pcf into it. I had updated the firmware on the one the client has had for a couple of months, and it was freezing.

The firmware update currently available is the one with the problem. I do not remember the number, but it is in that thread. I also have no idea, and stated that in a post, how to get the old firmware, and this is complicated by the fact that the new firmware's file name has no identifying version numbers in its title. You can't tell what version you are about to update to until you have connected a remote and started the program. At least you can back out at that moment!

And, yeah, don't EVER learn with ANY Prontoid ANYTHING with the remote connected to the computer, directly into the program. Disconnect the remote, learn into the remote, then upload into the program. This has been a problem since the very first TS1000, and as of about a month ago, nobody has answered me by saying "that's not a problem any more" about the current models, even though they have different processors and different software than the original generation units.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Hey Ernie,

I learn all the time into PPENG and cannot remember the last time I had a problem. Sometimes it can be a little fussy, based upon the odd remote you might be learning but in most cases, changing the cadence slightly (time holding down the target button) always seems to get me by.

Significant lighting still seems to be a problem and when it doesn't learn, I just swing my desk lamp a foot away or so and it seems to work for me.

I am sure I have learned a few thousand buttons by now, maybe more and I have NEVER learned one head-to-head without using PPENG.

Just my $.02....
