nevermind. I found the sleep timer. It was buried in the main menu settings. Takes 12 button presses to set the timer (not kidding...I counted) but it works now. The whole problem was that for some reason this TV didn't come with a manual so I've been chasing down information for weeks.

At this point you probably dont need the sleep timer anymore.
No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall.
