We charge $60.00 per man hour plus trip charges starting at $45.00. We also bid jobs based on what we think it would take for our best and fastest techs to complete a job so customers don't overpay due to work being done by a tech with less experience. Programming is based on a per hour basis that ranges fro $60.00 to $75.00 per hour based on the complexity of the system, i.e. Mx-500 versus Intellicontrol or Crestron. We are located in Central California

80 dollars first hour, 50 dollars each additional hour. Thanks for the tip about charging more if the customer helps. If I do that, I could probably retire early!!! I suggest telling your friend your rates and giving an estimate based on the time it would take for an experienced tech to do the job. If it takes longer, just stick to your quote and use it as a learning or training experience.

Just be careful....you don't want to catch the
blame when he blows a speaker, changes a setting
and gets no sound...then expects you to come back
for free and "Make it work"

SO TRUE ISNT IT :)

I charge 65.00 an hour for client owned equipment and
45.00 an hour to install equipment I sell.

Friends usually fly free but if theres material I make them buy it at cost.

On the east end of Long Island, we charge 85 an hour, and if we have to travel more than an hour from our shop, its 100 an hour.
