I was recently at a CEDIA sponsored event......one of the sponsors was Crestron. To my great surprise...I won a Crestron Touch Panel package. It was the 10" Wi-Fi panel with a processor. It was listed on the package as a $5800 package ( I am assuming this is retail).

One problem....I am an Elan dealer....I have never dealt with Crestron. I DO know the programming is just something to be desired. I have been core Elan for years now. I KNOW Crestron runs laps around Elan....but we enjoy it for all our applications.

So the question is....what do I do with it? I am too fearful on putting it on Ebay..... and you know competition with other A/V companies in your area makes it difficult. Crestron called us today and said the package was being shipped. I think the best thing to do is NOT TO OPEN it...offer it up for sale at a better price than from a distributor. Anyone have any opinions....I know it is a great piece. I just don't have the time to learn ANOTHER device...this is no learning curve here!

Great idea. I'm sure someone around here will make you an offer soon.

Selling this would be good if you wanted to get the cash to buy something else you had your eye on, like maybe the VIA2 and S12. That particular package just came out from Crestron. Send me a email if you want to start taking offers. Your email is not listed in your profile.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

It is a great package....again....I know nothing about Crestron. I would love to have the Elan wireless....but you all know how that has been in the pipeworks FOREVER! I just updated my email for everyone. I would take a crack at the Crestron....but from experience I am going to need THIS part and THAT part...and now I am into a full system. I just think the best thing to do with it is when it gets here....keep it in the original package UNOPENED...take pics of it...and see if I can sell it to someone under what a rep would? But then again....do you get into a warranty issue? How does Crestron deal with that.

EVER WIN SUCH A GREAT PRIZE AND HAVE TROUBLE DEALING WITH THIS?!?!?! SHEESH!

I may consider making you an offer. Which processor did they send with it?

I will call Crestron and ask them about the situation if you like.

I was looking to purchase the TPMC-10 for my own personal enjoyment anyway. Maybe we can make us both happy.

You should just post it on AVS - I'm sure it will sell in a second.

Oh wait, the DIY guys there dont buy Crestron - they like to build their systems from scratch. Sorry.

Why not hire a CAIP (Crestron Autorized Independent Programmer) to program it? Then you can see it's potential and decide if Crestron fits into your product line.

Sort of... Years ago in another life, I had a big competition car stereo in my car. Took it to a big contest, and took second overall out of 160 cars. The prize for second place was 25$ and a 10" Cerwin Vega subwoofer. Thanks... It would be hard to win this contest without a subwoofer, but thanks - I guess I'll sell it.

You were a car guy too? Seems to be quite a few custom car guys in our industry. I always kind of figured that one led to the other. Nice thing about houses is there's a whole lot more room to work in most of the time. It's still about all those little details.

Kind of funny when you think about it. All that money and time into your car and the prizes weren't ever that big, except for the IASCA finals 1st place trophiesthat you had to figure out some way of getting them into your car for the whole ride home.
Why all the fighting and cussing? Can't Dave play nice? We're just here to learn and have fun. It was a harmless jab, laugh and get over it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BTW... S-E-A-R-C-H!!!
or do the work!!!

Ya, I'm glad I only won 2 or 3 of those!

Truth time - I was a customer first... I've only ever worked on my own car, and even then I had someone do most of it, and just helped out here and there.

Got a job at a store that sold both home and car, and just ended up on the home side... The rest is history.

That's similar though, most of the people we built competition level cars for were pretty much paying for the right to work on their car with our supervision. They practically lived at the store during the show season and learned how to do tons of stuff, especially the unfun like sanding the fiberglass pieces or dynamatting their ceiling and firewall. :-)
