I'm playing around with my showroom Sammy 5072 plasma. There is an "antenna" button on the remote, but it will not take it to the antenna input, if you are on any of the video inputs. It only toggles between the "air" and "Cable" inputs (sort of like Ant A and Ant B). You have to use the source scroll input to land the TV on "TV" and then the antenna button works.

I'm playing around with an MX-850 and have downloaded multiple Sammy codes from the URC database (yes I did a live update) but there are no buttons (or discretes) that will take it to either of the antenna inputs from a video input (1.e AV1 or component, etc...)

Am I missing something? The URC Sammy 2005 discrete code set has great discretes (power on and off; AV1, component 1, HDMI etcc...) but no way to go to antenna from video.

Has anyone figured away around this?

What about inputing a digit?

The discretes do not work for all of the Samsung models. I just worked on one recently (I can't remember the model) that did just what you say and there is no fix for it that I could find.

call Sammy and ask for "level two" or "tier two" tech support(cant remember what yhey call it, ask for the discreet ir codes, last time they sent me a excel file that included a calculator that gernerated the hex codes.

Use a VCR as a tuner...

(sorry, in a smartass mood tonight, but it would work...)

Either that or it will take a several step macro including menu, arrows down, right, enter, and so on.

Is this one of the generation that give you a message "Sorry, that function is not available here" when you are on an external input and hit Channel Up? When I saw that a couple years ago on a Samsnug, I could only imagine a brand new engineer thought that was a good idea.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Yes, that is correct. It even says that on screen, when you hit the antenna button on the factory remote (from an external input).

Somewhere I have a spread sheet. I need to dig around and try to find it - to see if it has a discrete code. Now if I can only remember where I put that.

Well i found a text file with most of the codes in hex. None that we don't already have though.

Does anyone have that spread sheet?

On another note: How do you get that blue circle around the power button to shut off (or at least dim) while the unit is on standby? That thing is bright in a dark room.

FP, you've got mail.

I overcame this problem by using a VCR as the tuner, so I switched to Video 1 when I wanted TV channels. I don't remember if I looked very far for a way to go to the antenna input.

You could use the discrete command to take you to the last input in the cycle before going to the antenna input, then send a TV/Video command.

I have a customer using the same TV. I had to program the remote to go to the last input and the cycle like EBG recomends. I stuck an emiter on the TV just for safe measure.

And you could do a menu; right arrow, right arrow and enter to get to the TV input

or

the last input in the scroll (I think it is eiter hdm 2 or PC (VGA) and tehn input scroll.

But somewhere there is probably a dicrete IR command.

Ernie,

Don't want to use a VCR as this plasma has an ATSC tuner built in and I'm getting 6 HD stations with my attic antenna. The built in Cable tuner is also ATSC compliant and getting any HD stations over cable that aren't scrambled.

I would also love to solve the blue halo light around the power button. Tokyo at night.

I actually took one apart the other day............

Lots and lots of screws but I removed the whole speaker assembly...

Works nicely and then you can either extend the IR/power button assembly or wire tie it behind the unit............

It was difficult at first but after finding a screw behind a sticker that I missed, all was cleaner than ever.............This eliminated the blue light and the ugly speaker which I didnt need...........

Have you tried the codes in Here?
[Link: remotecentral.com]

specifically the codes for antenna1 and DTV for the cable input.
