I heard on the radio here in Chicago about some sort of website that had been created for use by contractors of all kinds. Essentially it was created to warn other contractors of nasty clients. Contractors could post their real experiences by geographical locations. So a database would be created so when you get a new customer, you could search the site sort of like a background check to make sure of things like, "they pay their bills". Does anyone know what that site is? I can't remember it for the life of me.

Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"...

I've wondered about this also, there are lists for customers to post comments on contractors, but what about us and the other way around. In 7 years I have only walked off of one job, lost about $5K on it, but the woman was a real bunny boiler. She ended up calling a buddy of mine who is a competitor. He ended up taking about 10 years off his life and lost alot more dough than I did.

A site where we could rate customers would be something I would use alot.
I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV.
My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

As long as no one goes nuts and simply states facts. Only first names can be mentioned with an initial for the last name and general vicinity of residence. Like I said I heard an ad for this already in existence but can't remember the URL.

Kind of like an Angies List in reverse. Someone should setup a newsgroup and we can post whatever we want. First name, last name, address, phone numbers, license plate numbers.
What goes around........

You would have to wonder about the sucess of such a list. There's merit to it if the defamation issue can be addressed.

I'll get the occasional call from a prospective client, and begin talking to them. After getting into the conversation the prospect will exhibit more than the usual knowledge of hardware, the installation process and the lingo. A little more conversation and it is clear that they've worked with one or more people in the past, they've been fired, and I'm another candidate. Usually another few minutes after that and I know why the client and the previous CI guy didn't work out. Often, there is no list needed at all, just good common sense.
