Don't have much experience with Dish, just enough to know they are a pain.
I have a system that is located in a closet approx. 15 feet from tv. Prevented the client from having to bend down to service the equipment. About a month after installation the echostar response to the remote began weakin. Eventually the client is getting up and aiming the remote down the hallway. Soon he replaces the remote and all is well. 2 weeks later, another remote and now a month later he's back to getting up to aim down the hallway.
This Echostar is about 1.5 yrs old and has Dolby Digital (don't have a model#) It rests on a shelf next to the Onkyo receiver above that is a Panansonic DVD and Sony VHS on the next shelf.
The living area is tile and the hallway is carpet leading to the gear approx. 12 feet.
The sytem was in place for about 2 months with no problems and then I upgraded the Onkyo and about 2 months later the problem begins.
I'm thinking static electricity or some type of enterference.
Have an entry level surge I think an AV800 from Monster Cable.
Using a Xantech IR system for the rest of the components. It's flawless.
Any clues will be appreciated.
Many thanks,
CMack

Kinda odd responding to my own thread. Hopefully it can help others out there.
Turns out it was interference. Placed a sheet of tinfoil between the two, the Echostar and Onkyo and all is well. Just have to wait and see if this is a permanent fix or just slows down the process.
