Never had any probs w/ dish.

Why couldnt you get the phone lines verified?

The "permanent deactivation" is something I've never heard of.

and I've nevr known then to "require" a phone line

As far as I know, my sat installer has never had any problems with dish or direct. We are based here in Colorado. What kind of problems have you had?
But what other choices do we have? Comcrap, because its craptastic. Wouldn't have any customer of mine put that in. I would be getting calls on a daily basis for the pic quality.
