Hello. I am having a problem with an install involving an Xbox 360 and a Sim2 Dominoe projector. I cannot seem to get the projector to play an hd signal. The customer bought a special component hd cable for the Xbox and the projector is suppose to be hd compatible, however when I select the different settings in the Xbox I cannot get proper signal on the screen. It works fine over S video but the picture shrinks when I try any of the hd settings in the Xbox. Please excuse my ignorance but hd hasn't been released here yet in England (Will finally get hd tv in about two months). I was also wondering if the problem could have something to do with the rgb+sinc on the projector. The spec is as follows

1 x Composite video via RCA connectors
1 x S –VHS via mini Din 4 pin
1 x RGBHV via Dsub 15 (PC input)
1 x RGBS/YCrCbS via 4xRCA connectors
1 x HDMI™-HDCP
1 x optical S/PDIF audio output from HDMI™
1 x DVI+HDCP via DVI-HDMI™ cable
1 x RS232 on Dsub 9 pins connector
2 x OUT 12 V 100 mA

I wonder if there is a hdmi cable for the Xbox, (although this slot is already taken up by the DVD player. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

No HDMI option for the 360 yet. there is a VGA option for the dsub 15 pin. Dumb question, but have you checked the switch on the video cable where it plugs into the 360 to make sure that it is set the "HDTV"?

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Yes I did push the switch to hd, and the Xbox reboots and the screen is almost impossible to read, so I have to scroll all the way over and try the other hd settings to see if they work but no luck. Still wondering if it has something to do with the 4th sync cable, I recall being able to use a composite feed for sync in an install a few years ago, but I am a bit dumbfounded now.

I am assuming that you are using the Domino 20h. For that model you need to hook the 360 up the RGB/Component video inputs(Input 3). You only need to use the red, green, and blue connections, seperate sync is not required. When you select input 3 on the projector, you need to tell it what type of video sugnal to look for. From the input menu, select input 3, then in the sub menu, select Y Cr Cb. This should get you up and running. Once again, make sure that HDTV is selected on the 360's ouput and start with the default 480p setting. If you are still having troubles, make sure that green and blue are not reversed somwhere in line and that your connections are good.

Hi thanks for the reply. I was not able to find a sub menu that let me choose between rgb and component, although I looked at every menu. Sounds like this is definately the problem

Are you extending the male outputs of the XBOX 360 with female to female barrels in order to have enough length to reach the projector?

If so, know that the these "Barrell" connectors, especially the plastic ones, have a very high rate of failure unless you use the all metal versions.

I would try to plug in the XBOX connector directly into the projector and work my way back thru the cables.

It is better to use the VGA dongle DB15Hd connector out and HD15HD input on the projector with the XBOX as the projector should default to a standard VGA resloution that you can then go on the system section of the settings blade and adjust to the best resoltion for your projector.

The submenu that PHSJason referred to is your problem. You need to go to the list of inputs, select the component input and then push the left or right arro (can't remember which) and it will pull down a menu of various scan rates. Select the one that say autosync at the end and it will work.

Hi thanks for the responses. Well I tried again today on another xbox 360 and another Sim2 projector. This time it was the higher end model HT300. I am still not able to get an hd signal to the screen. I have not been able to find a menu which enables me to select different scan rates. I went through the menu a dozen times. The only option for the component input is to make it active and name it. I did notice however the screen said something like rgb/y cr cb 15 khz. What does the 15 khz stand for?????? when I select 480 the picture is very squashed and there is two of everything. When I select 720 I just get wavey lines. Any other help would be very greatly appreciated. Is there any such thing as hdcp on a component input? Thanks again.

I have used quite a few Sim2 units but have not tried to connect an X-box 360 yet. Call your sim2 rep. If it's the same guy I have (can't recall his name right now) he can help you. He really knows his product.
Please let us know what you find.
By the way, don't you just love the picture quality from Sim2?

here is the issue, you need the Sim2's input to be set for 30khz. I do not have the manual infront of me, but I had the same issue once and resetting the inputs cycle to 30khz will fix the problem.

Classic case of RTFM. Turns out you have to press 0 on the remote (not menu) to get into the rgb/componant assignment. Downloaded manual and saw it there. Thanks for all the help will try tomorrow and let you all know.
