Who are some decent automation companies that can control lights, climate, security, whole house audio and a main theater that a DIY'er can buy (other than x-10) that have a large (10 in or better) color touch panel with a customizable Controller that can be installed/programmed by the buyer? If there is such an animal. Thanks

HAI can meet those needs but only if mated with AMX or for an less elegant option, Graphic Touch (not customizable).

Just out of curiousity, why are you looking for a DYI system?

I want to broaden my horizons and whos a better test subject than me? I dont have the power to decide what my company does so I cant really set up an account with an automation company just to play around with the product!

People often recommend the Ocelot for this, but I don't know how to integrate a touch panel for this.
The paranoid answer to your question is Control 4...
