I found out that if you have a camera phone you can see ir, i.e. looking at a remote while its transmitting you see the emitting light from it on the display of your phone. This is the coolest thing I have learned in a long time and am sure this will be very helpful for all of us installers!!!!! Happy trails. Let me know if this was helpful or if Im just a late bloomer.LOL

you can use an am radio too it makes clicking sounds when you press the remote buttons.

I've been seeing it with my xray vision for years (even when I'm not wairing a cape). I always wondered how you mere mortals could figure out if the remote was sending ir.
Manuals?! We don't need no stinking manuals! a.. er..

I have always held the emitter up to my eye and felt the ir burn my retina

seems I have burnt mt eyes to many time now...doesnt work as well anymore oe emitters are getting weaker
There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

Yeah, but you can't view the pulse train and analyze the preamble and sustains like with a camcorder.

just use the listening wand in your tone kit.... in fact, put it up to a piece of data wire. and you can also use it to tap phone calls in POTS systems.

it's an awesome tool
