I have a client here in Co who just purchased another home in Hawaii. Time Warner is telling him that DirecTV reception stinks there (of course they are). As the azimuth is so different, I told him that I don't know the answer but that I new where to find it. Hence this post. I did a Hawaii search on the Sat side of this site and got nothing. So, Bra, what's the story on the islands? Is Time Warner blowing smoke?

Tell the home owner you want to go to the new house and see if it will work ; )

Time Warner is full of it.

The only difference is that the dishes need to be larger. You're not likely to use a 3 LNB dish like on the mainland; you have to use 3 separate dishes, each are 1 Meter in diameter.

Otherwise, it's the same equipment.

BTW, MPEG4 isn't supposed to be available here, while it's available on the mainland. We should be able to see the birds here, so I suspect that they'll engineer a package later then 'offer' it to us.

Thanks, BigPapa. Good info. For the rest of you fellas, I am most likely going to travel for the A/V and automation. I'll probably bring my family for that gig, bill it flat rate so I can drag it out without feeling bad.

And,
you're looking for somebody to hold the other end of that wire, right?

No, he'll probably tie an RGBHV to his kid, push him up the crawl hole, and say "There's a BIG bucket of CANDY on the other side of the attic!"

You don't have much of a chance Fred.

My four year old can't crack the ceiling if she misses a stud. Her dad on the other hand is beginning to expand. My wife says that one day I'll scratch my butt by reaching over my shoulder. Nice lady. I often remind her that she married me and that reflects on her.
